Shellac

For A.H. and D.G.

Wikipedia says that shellac is a resin secreted by the female lac bug (Kerria lacca), found in India and Thailand.

Besides making old records and coating furniture, shellac is used to coat candy, pills (e.g., Advil), and apples.
