Tags vs. Categories

I had been wondering what the difference was. Did a Google search, and found this. Also this.

Posting this for my own notes.

  1. Think of categories as your blog’s table of contents, the words people search for and associate your blog content groupings with (Recipes and Food is good, but who will ever search for Random Initialization? 😀 ), and tags are the index words, the searchable keywords found in a specific article, not your entire blog necessarily. This blog post categories might be tags, categories, wordpress, blog, blog categories, blog tags, and so on. Right now, you have it categorized as “uncategorized” with no tags.

    I hope that helps.

  2. Thanks! My first “real” comment!
